NTA NEET OMR Sheet 2026: OMR Mismatch Allegations and What Every Student Must Check Right Now

The NEET 2026 result declared on July 16 brought relief for most students and a shock for at least one. Ibtesham Nasar, a NEET UG 2026 candidate, expected to score around 595 marks based on her responses during the June 21 Re-NEET examination. The result showed a score of approximately 60. When the NEET OMR sheet was uploaded for her to check, she alleged that the bubble pattern visible in the uploaded sheet was completely different from what she had actually marked on exam day. Her posts on X triggered a wave of similar concerns from other candidates and raised a question every NEET 2026 student should now be asking. Does the NTA NEET OMR sheet uploaded against your application number actually reflect what you marked in the exam hall?

What Ibtesham Nasar Alleged About the NTA NEET OMR Sheet?

On July 17, 2026, a day after the NEET 2026 result was declared, Ibtesham Nasar posted a series of messages on X describing the alleged NEET OMR sheet discrepancy in detail.

What she expected vs what she received:

DetailData
Expected NEET score~595 marks
Declared NEET score~60 marks
Questions intentionally left blank12 questions (to avoid negative marking)
Uploaded NTA NEET OMR sheet showedResponses marked for every question
Challenge fees paidRs 27,800 (Rs 200 per question)
NTA responseNone received as of July 18, 2026

She shared screenshots of the NEET OMR sheet on X and wrote that the uploaded OMR contained a completely different bubble pattern from what she actually filled. She compared the uploaded NEET OMR sheet with responses marked on her question paper copy retained during the exam. She found multiple mismatches and urged NTA to verify the original physical OMR sheet.

NTA NEET OMR Sheet: The Second Incident

A separate incident also emerged on July 18. A candidate named Avinish Shrivastava reportedly received the NEET OMR sheet of a different candidate named Ajit Singh via email from NTA, instead of his own. According to Avinish’s father, they have written to NTA about the apparent mix-up. NTA reportedly acknowledged the matter and said it would look into it. Two separate incidents, one of alleged content mismatch in the NEET OMR sheet and one of apparent identity mismatch, surfaced within 48 hours of the NEET 2026 result. Both raise legitimate questions about the distribution and verification process for the NEET OMR sheet.

NTA NEET OMR Sheet: NTA’s Response So Far

As of July 18, 2026, the National Testing Agency has not publicly responded to Ibtesham Nasar’s allegations. The claims made by Nasar and other social media users could not be independently verified. NTA has not released any official statement specifically addressing the NEET OMR sheet discrepancy posts from July 17 and 18.

SFI Demands NTA Scrapping

The Students’ Federation of India used the NEET OMR sheet discrepancy reports to renew its demands. It called for the immediate scrapping of NTA. The organisation also alleged inconsistencies in the NEET UG 2026 attendance data. It noted that 22,79,743 candidates registered for the May 3 examination, but only 19,99,895 appeared for the Re-NEET on June 21. SFI also alleged that 21 students died by suicide during the examination process. These allegations have not been independently verified.

What Every Student Must Check on the NTA NEET OMR Sheet Right Now?

Regardless of whether a student’s NEET score matches expectations, checking the NEET OMR sheet is essential. Every student should do this before the document becomes unavailable.

1: Download the NTA NEET OMR sheet Visit neet.nta.nic.in, log in with Application Number and Password, and download the uploaded OMR sheet PDF.

2: Compare the NTA NEET OMR sheet against your question paper copy If you retained a copy of your question paper with marked responses on June 21, use it for comparison. Check it question by question against the uploaded NEET OMR sheet. Note any response that differs.

3: Check for intentionally blank responses If you deliberately left questions unanswered to avoid negative marking, verify this carefully. Those same questions should appear blank in the NEET OMR sheet. A response appearing where none was intended is a genuine discrepancy.

4: Calculate expected NEET total marks from the uploaded sheet Use the uploaded NEET OMR sheet responses and the final answer key to calculate expected NEET total marks. Compare this against the declared NEET score. A significant gap warrants investigation.

5: Contact NTA if a genuine discrepancy exists Email: nta@nta.ac.in Helpdesk: 011-40759000 Write formally with admit card, question paper copy, and NEET OMR sheet screenshots clearly showing the discrepancy.

NEET Passing Marks and Why the Gap Matters?

ScoreSignificance
720Maximum NEET total marks
715AIR 1 score in NEET 2026
595 (expected by Nasar)Competitive for government MBBS through AIQ and state quota
213General category NEET passing marks in 2026
60 (declared to Nasar)Below NEET passing marks, no counselling eligibility

A student expecting 595 and receiving 60 moves from being competitive for government MBBS to not qualifying for counselling at all. If the NEET OMR sheet discrepancy is genuine, the consequences are severe. A year is lost and counselling eligibility is forfeited entirely.

OMR Mismatch vs Score Discrepancy: Two Different Issues

IssueWhat It MeansWhat to Do
NEET OMR sheet mismatchUploaded OMR shows different responses from what was markedContact NTA with physical question paper copy as evidence
NEET score discrepancyScore does not match uploaded OMR plus answer key calculationRecheck using final answer key including bonus marks
Bonus marks not accountedForgot to include dropped question bonus or two correct answers bonusRecalculate using updated NEET marking scheme

Before concluding there is a genuine NEET OMR sheet mismatch, every student should first recalculate their expected NEET total marks using the final answer key. This includes bonus marks from the dropped Physics question and the two correct answers Physics question. Many perceived discrepancies resolve once bonus marks are correctly applied to the NEET score calculation.

NEET 2026 Latest News: What This Means Going Forward?

The NEET 2026 latest news around NEET OMR sheet mismatch allegations surfaces just as MCC counselling registration is expected to open in the last week of July 2026. Students with genuine NTA NEET OMR sheet discrepancies must pursue resolution urgently before counselling deadlines arrive. Students should simultaneously register for counselling with their declared NEET score while pursuing the NTA complaint. This avoids missing counselling deadlines if the NEET OMR sheet review process takes longer than expected.
